I have just come back from 4 days in hospital. I was admitted in from emergency on Tuesday night because I was bleeding a lot in the nether region. I would stand up %26amp; blood would gush out in clumps like a tap had been turned on. I had a termination 2 months ago %26amp; had complications. After a month I was still bleeding %26amp; was given some tablets %26amp; told everything was ok. Yet when my next period came (on tuesday) blood was streaming EVERYWHERE. Very scary experience. They nearly gave me a blood transfusion.
I was given tests done %26amp; they said I still had retained products. They also said they found a 7cm ovarian cyst. I have to go back in 2 months to have it checked up on, but I am realy worried. I was told it is big, %26amp; I have looked on websites %26amp; I can tick some of the symptoms of ovarian cancer. The hospital knows I have these symptoms, but they recomended that I go on the pill and wait. Should I be worried? Has anyone else been through this? What was the outcome?
Has anyone had ovarian cysts??? I am worried and need help.?
omg well i dont know anything about what youre going through but i read this and i thought i should reply. im really sorry and i hope things work out 4 you! i would just try to not worry too much and have a positive outlook on things. it sounds like what you went through was scary, and i just wanted to say that i hope things work out okay. hope this helps =)
oh by the way, my friend's friend actually had ovarian cysts and everything worked out for her. i dont know much about it but she is okay now, i just saw her a week ago and she looked like she was doing good, so im sure things will work out! =)
Reply:That does sound scary to have blood gushing like that. I have very heavy periods myself, and my gynae says I have cysts in there too, but not as big as yours. They prob. suggested the pill so your period won't come and then the cysts might go down. I hear that they have to do a small incision/operation to confirm what it really is. Did they give you a blood test? That will help to see if markers are up and stuff. I think they are conservative and taking the observation route. If you are hesitant, you can always get a second opinion from another doctor. Meanwhile, please do supplement with iron pills or eat food with iron. Blood loss like that requires supplements! Take care, dear!
Reply:I had a 5 cm cyst on one ovary and several 2-2.5 cm cysts on the other. Mine were removed. I too was told to take the pill and wait, but I was in terrible pain, so I called my doc and complained of the pain until he did the surgery a couple of days later. They found out that the cysts never would have gone away on their own or with medication, they HAD to be removed. My gyn told me that they usually operate automatically for cysts 6 cm and larger because the opvary itself is only 6 cm and the larger they are the higher the risk of the risks of torsion (twisting on the blood supply) if you're bleeding that much and are worried, call your doc and complain of increased pain until he puts you in the hospital or agrees to surgery, or go see another gyn. I also have pelvic congestion syndrome, a very painful chronic condition that causes the symptoms you're describing. About 30% of women with pelvic pain have it but it can't be found in the "normal" ways (imaging, pelvic exam), you have to have a laparoscopy. Don't gamble with your health; don't wait, get a second opinion.
Reply:was this the nhs? they are just saying it to waste time. My mum had fibroids which were causing her similar problems and she was given painkellers and tranxemic acid but the bleeding did not stop. She too was told to wait - the doctor in a%26amp;e had told us that our GP had to write a urgent request for her to be dealt with - when we told our GP about this he refused to write it saying that there was no such thing as urgent requests. I wrote to our local MP complaining about our treatment at our hospital and found that your GP is responsible for writing an URGENT referal to your hospital gynae who must see you within 2-4 weeks. If the problem persists get your GP to write a urgent request or visit the a%26amp;e dept.....
