I have heard that being on the pill increases the chance of ovarian cancer and reduces the chances of conceiving. Is this true? Are there any other consequences?
I have been on the pill for 6 years.
What are the consequences of being on the birth control pill?
The birth control pill REDUCES the chance of ovarian cancer over a certain period of time, it regulates your periods, and the chance of getting pregnant while ON birth control pills is less than 1%, although it can happen. After you come off of them it shouldn't take anymore than 6 months to conceive depending on what kind of pill you are taking. It took me 6 months.
Reply:I have heard that too. I had to quit taking it cause they made me have high blood pressure. There is also a risk of heart attack and stroke. They also made me gain a ton of weight!
Reply:I quit taking them because I had my period for like 10 months after i had my daughter...you may want to consider abstinence
Reply:sometime it makes u gain weight
Reply:It really depends on the type of birth control you are using. (for side effects, etc)
You do not want to be on birth control for long periods of time because it can cause problems conceiving later in life. My sister was on birth control for 8 years. She can not have kids because the birth control pill caused endometriosis. She had to have a historectomy(?spelling). This of course is not in everyones case. (This was ahh 8 yrs ago. so birth control improved a lot since then)
I would highly recommend talking with your doctor about your concerns.
Reply:my friend was on birth control and she was told later on down the track that the pill had compleatly stuffed her body up and she will never be able to have children, however i was on the pill and i am pregnant now... i was on the pill when i fell pregnant, but i think the chances of something serious happening is low but it can happen, it also can put weight on, get bad mood swings u can get depression aniexty
Reply:Weight gain, blood clots that lead to stroke and heartattack. But with the advances todays pill is much safer than your mothers pill. If you dont smoke and you take the pill correctly the likley hood of any serious complications are very slim. Ive been on the pill and I loved it, no cramps, light periods that you can expect on the day theyre due. If youre worried about problems maybe ask your doctor about a low dose hormone if you arent already using one. Im on ortho tri cylen low, its just as affective but with less hormoens.
Reply:I have been on the pill for 16 years and am in great health. My OBGYN constantly assures me that I will have no problem conceiving when I am ready
