Total Hysterectomy?

I was 25 yrs. old when dignosed with ovarian cancer. I had on child a son who was 8 mos. old. I had to get a total hysterectamy. Now I feel like a much older woman. I have no sex drive, sometime i'm down because I can't experience being pregnet and giving birth. Don't get me wrong I thank GOD every day for all my blessing especially my son and his father who's been there every step.

Total Hysterectomy?
When you had a hysterectomy at such a young age, it threw you right into menopause. All the symptoms you experience are probably a result of that. Since you had cancer, HRT (hormone replacement therapy) is not an option for you. You should speak with your Gyne about this. There may be something he can do to help you. There is an estrogen pill that you can insert directly into the vagina that doesn't get absorbed into your body, but only a physician can tell you exactly what to do. There are herbal remedies out there also, but I cannot attest to their validity.

You are so right to be thankful to God for your health, husband, and son. Maybe you would like to think about adoption?
Reply:Whats the question or are you just venting?
Reply:Having a total hysterectomy causes major changes in a woman's body, just as much mental as physical. As far as the sex drive, you may want to consult your doctor about the possibility of getting on hormone therapy. This could regulated you body and give you more drive. Also, taking hormones and being more regulated may help control your emotions and help deal with feeling sad about not being able to get pregnant. If you continue to feel sad, there are also anti-depressants that can help with that as well, but just be sure to talk though all of your symptoms with your doctor. Your feelings are very normal, so don't feel funny about talking to your doctor about them. Best of luck.
Reply:If you had a total Hysterectomy, then you are probably experiencing menopausal symptoms . have you talked to your Dr . about it. You've been through a lot , I hope that things go well with you from now on in. I am happy to hear you have a son and a caring husband. That is a blessing alot of women don't have. Please tell your Dr . your symptoms.
Reply:I think these feelings are pretty normal for someone in your situation. I would talk withmy Dr. about horomone replacement theraphy that can help and find a good lubercant. Try to find you a good therapist or grief counselor or support group to join to help you deal. Once you learn to deal with the issues then you can go at life on your own. God Bless you and find peace some how so you can be happy agian.
