CA-125 Blood test- do you know about it?

i recently received an email going around about this blood test. It apparently tests for a unique ovarian cancer. It has saved some peoples lives. Has anyone in australia had it done, how much does it cost or does anyone know anything about it? I have had endometriosis for 8 years and PCOS for about 5 years and have always worried about developing ovarian or cervical cancer. Wondering if this test is available and if it is worth doing?

CA-125 Blood test- do you know about it?
The email that is going around is very misleading. It is a test used primarily to track the effectiveness of treatment of a woman who has already been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. It is not effective for determining early stages of cancer. Read attached:

Reply:Ca 125 levels rise in the blood in some ovarian cancers, however, PCOS doesn't increase your risk of ovarian cancer, and neither does endometriosis. The best predicting factor is if you've had many first degree relatives having ovarian or breast cancer. Better than a Ca 125 is an Ultrasound Scan. The two tests combined can re-assure you that you have nothing wrong.
