Taking oral contraceptives actually lowers your risk of ovarian cancer by 50%:

Reply:There are 3 different types of ovarian cancer.

Only about 5% are due to a genetic defect (hereditary).

Oral contraceptives can actually REDUCE your risk! (Opposite of breast cancer).

Causes

Age over 50, family history, changes in the genes BRCA1 or BRCA2 are associated with ovarian cancer. Higher risk occurs in Northern Europeans, Northern and Ashkenazi Jews, with early onset of periods (before 12 years) and late menopause, childlessness, infertility, first child after 30 or never taking oral contraceptives, as is the case with women who have taken oestrogen only hormone replacement therapy or fertility treatment.
Reply:Don't mess around asking this to dorks (like me) on yahoo answers.

Go ask your doctor. You could probably call and ask the nurse too...
Reply:normally cancer is more likely to appear if known in a family at the second generation and ur the first generation after ur mother... anyway go see a doctor and make a test cause now they can tell you this things
