I've had pelvic pain for months now but the ultrasound only showed a little bit of fluid build up in my cervix. Would cervical or ovarian cancer show?
Will cancer show up in a pelvic ultrasound?
Ultrasound is the most frequent imaging modality used to evaluate the ovaries for masses that could be cancerous. An ultrasound can see masses in the ovaries that are very small (millimeters). As for cervical cancer, a pap smear is performed to check for abnormal cells. Pelvic pain can be a result of a variety of benign conditions, such as endometriosis. Be sure to follow up with your doctor for advisement.
Reply:Uterine and ovarian tumors can be seen on ultrasound, but ultrasound will not tell you that they are tumors. In order to determine what something is, doctors need to do a biopsy.
Reply:It's possible that a pelvic mass (tumor) could be picked up by sonography.
Reply:it could if the cyst or mass was big enough but more then likely it won't. Good luck and relax it could be something else too
Reply:cervical cancer will show up with a pap smear. Cancer in the uterus and overies (Depending on how far along) should show up in an ultra sound. There are many reasons for pelvic pain. Fluid build up in the cervix is normal. I have that in all my ultra sounds (and I have had a lot over the past year as I too deal with pelvic pain) You need to go see your Gyno and get more tests done. If the pain is all the time then you need to get it checked out. It is normal for women to get mid cycle pain for a few days each month. Either way go get it checked out
Reply:They can some detect masses with ultrasound. If an ovary or cervex is enlarged it would be visible. They would still have to get a biopsy to determine if it's cancer though
Reply:it is very highly possible that the cancer may show up in a pelvic ultrasound.....you really do need to speak to your doctor about the situation. just to put your mind at ease.....
i want to wish you the best of luck and may God bless and keep you safe and healthy. luv, Sweetness #1
