Secondary liver cancer?

my aunt was diagnosed with ovarian cancer about 4 years ago and it has spread to the liver, worse case scenario she has 3 months per the doctors. what are the chances of recovery for this. she was originally given 2 years and she is a tuff cookie but with the liver involved I am unclear of what is happening. please help, thanks

Secondary liver cancer?
secondary metastasis to the liver are not good. If you doubt her oncologists, get a secondary opinion but usually oncologists are pretty good at this sort of thing. There is probably nothing more they can do for her medically b/c of the agressiveness of her particular form of cancer. Once they stop medical treatment as in a cure form of treatment, the cancer will continue to spread or at least continue to grow. Having a sense of humor and strong will to live with help her considerably, but there is only so far that will go, from what I have found when somebody is declared terminal, 9 times out of 10, the cancer wins. I hate to be so blunt about it, but it's my personal experience. I work at a children's cancer hospital. I hope your aunt stays as painfree as possible.
Reply:MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT IF THE LIVER CANCER IS METASTATIC AND NOT PRIMARY, HER CHANGES ARE SLIM
Reply:It is always so hard to know how long someone has. I have seen people with liver mets from another primary live for years. You didn't mention in your question if your aunt is still undergoing any treatment at all. Sometimes treatment may not cure someone, but may keep the tumors stable in size. Sometimes we can keep people alive quite a while in this situation. I truly believe that someone's outlook on life plays into how long they live. Too often, I see someone get bad news and "give up" and it seems and though they die very quickly. Others seem to outlive what we would have expected. I try not to give time frames - I get proven wrong time and time again. Hopefully you aunt will be one of those who proves the docs wrong. This is actually a situation where I like to be proven wrong.
